The global events of recent years — a disruptive yet waning pandemic, ruptured education systems, growing nationalism worldwide, and a renewed social justice movement — have called for a sea-change and re-imagining of the work of the international higher education sector. Based on her extensive experience in the field as a scholar-practitioner and thought leader, Dr. Rajika Bhandari will share her perspectives on what has changed yet remained consistent; how the past and recent developments inform our current realities, while also looking ahead to innovative thinking, practices and policies that are needed to ensure the resilience of international higher education.

Rajika Bhandari, Ph.D., is a scholar-practitioner in international higher education, author of the award-winning book, America Calling: A Foreign Student in a Country of Possibility, and the host of the World Wise podcast on education, culture, and migration. Quoted frequently in the global press, she is a leading researcher, a widely published author, and keynote speaker on international students and international education. She is the founder of Rajika Bhandari Advisors, offering evidence-based strategic guidance to nonprofits, multilateral organizations, and higher education institutions, and also serves as a Senior Advisor to the Presidents' Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration. She previously spent over a decade at IIE leading the research, evaluation, and thought leadership portfolio. She has also served on the US National Commission to UNESCO, and as an adjunct professor at Teachers College.
